Brandon's Story

A family of 6... vehicles

There may only be four people in the Johnson family, but they won’t ever have to worry about transportation with Brandon’s love of cars. With 3 trucks and 3 SUVs, Brandon and his family needed a customized auto insurance plan that matched how often and for what purpose he was using each vehicle.

Insurance Maestro was able to tailor his insurance coverage to Brandon’s specific needs and use of each car, while saving him money and matching his previous coverage. Insurance Maestro’s independent model allowed the Johnson’s to compare coverage from several insurance companies to make sure they were getting exactly what they needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
about Auto Insurance

How can you get discounts on your auto insurance?

Some insurers will give you a discount for upgraded security systems, claim-free driving, or discounts when you buy several policies from the same company.

What information do you need to get a quote for auto insurance?

Aside from your personal information such as your driver license and social security number, you’ll also need to have information about the vehicle you want to insure, including any security features, along with a full account of your driving history; if you have any violations or if you’ve had any accidents, then you’ll need to have the details of these too.

Who is covered under a personal auto insurance policy?

Your policy can cover you and any other members of your family that you choose to add. It may also cover you to drive other vehicles, but this needs to be verified with any insurer you choose. It will also cover people who drive your vehicle with your explicit consent, but who are not named on the policy.

Does personal auto insurance cover ride-sharing?

No. If you use your personal vehicle for commercial reasons, then you will need to buy supplemental insurance at an extra cost to cover this.

Auto Insurance Explained

Auto insurance comes in many different flavors. Choosing the right coverage at the right price is easy when you know the things you do and do not need. Here is a quick guide to the different choices, which we hope, will give you a solid grounding on all things auto insurance.

Comprehensive Coverage
This pays for any damage when there is no collision involved. It can include theft, storms, vandalism, natural disasters, and a few other specifics.

Liability Coverage
This is for damages caused to property or bodily injury. In most states, it’s mandated by law that you should have this. It pays for a legal defense and other covered damages.

Collision Coverage
If you’re involved in a collision with a vehicle or object, or if your vehicle rolls, this will help cover the cost of any damage. If your vehicle is leased or financed, then you’re probably going to need to have this as part of your contract.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist
If you’re in an accident caused by an uninsured motorist, or someone without coverage, this will cover damages and medical expenses.

Personal Injury Protection
Depending on the insurer, it could be called no-fault insurance or PIP. Regardless of who is at fault, it can cover medical expenses, a portion of any lost earnings, and other damages.

Additional Auto Insurance Options

Now we’ve outlined the core options; it’s time to tackle the extras! While there might seem like a lot to choose from, there are going to be some which are suited to your individual needs. So, although some might not be relevant, make sure you always review which add-ons are applicable and which aren’t.

New Car Replacement
If you have a new car, this will give you the option to replace that vehicle with a brand new one when the accident occurs within the first 2-5 years of your ownership.

Roadside Assistance
This gives assistance in a breakdown and is typically offered in a number of levels.

Rental Coverage
If your vehicle sustains damage in a covered event under your policy, this add-on will be activated if your car is out of action for more than 24-hours.

Lease Gap Coverage
Only suitable for those with finance on a vehicle. It covers any difference between the actual cash value and the unpaid balance of the loan.
